We offer researchers a platform to analyse and visualise their collected clinical data without needing programming skills.
cBioPortal is a translational research platform that is widely used in cancer research and genomics worldwide and is also used at the Uniklinikum Erlangen in the Molecular Tumour Board.
cBioPortal was developed by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) to facilitate the analysis and interpretation of complex genetic cancer data in combination with clinical information. The tool not only offers a wide range of visualisation and analysis options in the field of cancer research, but also facilitates the overview of clinical data sets through its ease of use.

Benefits of cBioportal
- Combination of all collected data of a project in one database (clinical data, laboratory values, expression data, mutation data, etc.).
- Quick and easy cohort search.
- Direct visualisation of all clinical data in one dashboard.
- Simple analyses with indication of P-Value and Q-Value.
- Visualisation of patient progression in timelines.
- Combination of mutation and/or expression data with clinical data (if available).
In addition to the publicly available cBioPortal , which hosts a large number of public data sets from TCGA and other large-scale genome studies, the software is also used locally at the Uniklinikum Erlangen.
Data Integration Service
- A one-hour initial consultation and project planning meeting so we can understand specific project needs, outline a project schedule and estimate costs.
- Checking your data sets for applicability in cBioPortal.
- Customised data cleaning, processing and integration in cBioPortal (in collaboration and adapted to the requirements of the analyses needed) using Python scripts.
- Support for data enrichment (e.g. laboratory data) in close cooperation with the data integration centre (DIC).
- Regular updates of your data in cBioPortal.
- Individual training for the use of cBioPortal.
